There’s a story playing out across the UK right now. And the US. And in more places than I care to count.
It’s a story about people like me—transgender individuals—framed not as humans but as headlines. As dangers, punchlines, or burdens. We’re the “issue” of the moment, rather than people simply trying to live decent, peaceful lives.
But while some want to keep arguing over who belongs in what space, I’ve chosen something different…
I don’t care. I’m not here to fight that version of reality. I’m here to outgrow it.
Reality Is Old News
What we call “reality” is usually just the past recycled through today’s filter. Old fears, outdated policies, yesterday’s headlines wearing new names.
I’m not interested in building my life out of that kind of reality. I’m interested in what’s next.
Because a policy can only define your options if you let it.
It’s Not About Dependence—It’s About Contribution
I’ve been looking at other countries, not as escape routes but as places where I can contribute. A country that recognizes and protects people like me is a country I want to support. I want to build a business in. I want to help build something that reflects the world I believe is possible.
It’s not about dependence. It’s about mutual recognition. And in time, the countries that say yes to inclusion—those will be the winners. Not the ones clinging to fear.
The Bamboo in the Storm
Living in the Philippines has taught me a lot about weathering storms—literal ones. I’ve lived through typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and floods. And every time the world shook, I noticed one thing: the bamboo.
During those violent, howling storms, the bamboo bent so low it was nearly horizontal. But it didn’t snap. It flexed with the wind. And when the sky finally cleared, it rose again—upright, whole, resilient.
That’s what I see for us.
Sometimes, survival requires bending. It might mean leaving a country that no longer protects you. It might mean pausing the fight long enough to breathe and find your peace elsewhere. Not because you’ve surrendered—but because you’ve chosen YOU…you’ve chosen to bend, not break.
And if you’re someone who chooses to stand straight in the wind and face it head-on, I salute you, too.
There’s no one right way to survive a storm. What matters is that we respect and support each other, even if we take different paths.
Because when our community turns inward and fractures, the ones in power rejoice. Divide and conquer isn’t just history—it’s strategy. And we’re smarter than that
I didn’t transition to make a statement. I did it long before there was Google, smartphones or swipe through explainer reels on social media. I did it because I had to. Because I wanted to live.
And now, as a coach who’s helped thousands of people worldwide—most of whom never knew I was transgender—I’m reminded daily that who we are isn’t what limits us. What limits us is who we believe we’re allowed to be.
Some of my clients, if they knew, might change how they see me. Others might feel even more inspired.
Either way, I don’t live for their reaction. I live for my alignment.
Trans Men Deserve to Be in the Room Too
This entire conversation around “biological sex” and single-sex spaces is centered on fear of trans women.
But trans men exist too.
And when the law says your birth sex overrides your lived gender, trans men suddenly become invisible in male spaces—and alienated in female ones. We are not just data errors or policy edge cases. We are people with beating hearts and decades of life to live
Maybe you’ll stay where you are and fight. Maybe you’ll leave and build peace elsewhere. Either choice is valid.
Just don’t forget: you get to choose.
If you're in a place that no longer sees your value, I hope you remember that your peace matters more than their permission. And if you’re watching these laws change and feeling that rising fear—that ache behind your ribs that wonders, “Am I still safe?”—know this:
You are still valuable. Still worthy. Still radiant.
You are not a burden.
You are the bamboo. You may bend. But you will not break.
Repeat this and FEEL it every single day: I AM valuable, I AM worthy, I AM radiant, I AM bamboo, I AM unbreakable.
We Are the Light
Trans people have carried wisdom through fire. We are often the light in a dark room—the ones who’ve learned how to rebuild, because we’ve had to.
We are not invaders. We’re healers. Leaders. Up-lifters.
And if they try to erase us, society will lose something sacred—like removing all the tigers or all the bees, only to wonder later why the world feels hollow
So let’s stay authentic. Stay whole. And stay kind to each other, even when we disagree. Because our strength is in our unity, not our uniformity.
