Paul Cadmus (1904-1999) was a groundbreaking artist who boldly depicted modern gay life in his work and personal experiences. His controversial masterpiece, "The Fleet's In," sparked a scandal that secured his place in art history. Cadmus's urban scenes featuring muscular sailors, soldiers, and blue-collar workers in parks directly influenced iconic works of Tom of Finland. Cadmus helped pave the way for greater LGBTQ+ visibility in art and society.
